Race for Good enables anyone to fundraise for the charitable works of The Salvation Army Malaysia.

The inaugural physical race was first held in Singapore in 2023 and it concluded with a positive turnout. The 2023 edition raised a total of over S$230,000 for The Salvation Army Singapore.

With this virtual fundraising activity held concurrently with our Singapore counterparts, Race for Good aims to promote a healthy lifestyle while also raising RM100,000 to help fund our residential homes for children and the aged, our education programmes for people with special needs and children from low-income families, emergency relief and community projects.

REGISTRATION

1. How do I register for RACE FOR GOOD – MALAYSIA EDITION 2024?
You will need to make the payment first so we can provide you with a promo code to bypass the payment gateway when registering on this site. Upon successful registration, you will receive a confirmation email sent to your registered email (please check your spam / junk folder if it does not appear in your inbox). If you do not hear from us within 1 working day, please contact us at pr.malaysia@smm.salvationarmy.org.

2. What are the categories for this event?
There is only 1 category of 89km.

3. What is the age restriction to join RFG?
Parental consent is needed for children under 18 years to participate. By agreeing to the T&Cs stated during registration, parents/guardians are granting consent for their child/ward under 18 to participate.

4. How do I know if my registration is successful?
You will receive an email confirmation upon successful registration. Do contact us at pr.malaysia@smm.salvationarmy.org if you did not receive this confirmation email after registering.

SUBMISSION OF ACTIVITIES

1. How do I submit my recorded distance for each of my run/walk/cycle sessions?
Sync your Strava app (do register for the free App first: https://www.strava.com/

a. Click on the SYNC YOUR APP button if you track your timing using Strava app.

b. Do note that it may take up to a few hours for the activities to show up on the Dashboard. If your record does not appear after 24 hours, please contact pr.malaysia@smm.salvationarmy.org for us to be notified and assist.

2. Is there a limit to how many results I am allowed to submit?
UNLIMITED! (Better than most mobile data plans!) You may take as many or as few submissions to complete your challenge distance, but do note that duplicated submissions will not be counted.

3. How can I track my running record?
You may track your running record progress through your Dashboard when you log in. This will show you your last running submission as well as your overall progress. You may find your ranking in the leaderboard page on the website within 24 hours of your submission once verified.

4. When can I start to submit my activity results?
Whoa… we like your enthusiasm, but only run/walk/cycle activities recorded between 27 June and 28 July 2024 will be accounted for.

5. Can I submit more Run/Walk/Cycle results even if I have completed my minimum distance?
Definitely! You may still continue to submit your run/walk/cycle results after achieving the distance that you have selected. Only submissions during the submission period will be accounted for.

6. Is there a time limit for each run/walk/cycle activity?
Nope, there are no restrictions whatsoever for your run/walk/cycle. You may run or walk at your own pace for as long or as short as you like, but please run/walk according to your fitness level or as advised by your doctor if required.

7. Can I use an activity done on a treadmill?
We are sorry you cannot use a treadmill snapshot submission for this run.

8. If I sync my GPS tracking running app only after I have done my run/walk/cycle activities, will my records be still counted?
Only run/walk /cycle activities recorded from 26th June to 28th July 2024 will be accounted for.

You can support us by donating pre-loved items or new items to our Centres in Malaysia. Our social enterprise arm, Red Shield Industries (RSI), processes the donated items and retails them at our Family Thrift Stores located in Selangor, Penang, Ipoh, Melaka and Kuching at affordable prices. The income generated go towards our social service programmes and community projects.

It is a great way to recycle and reuse things that are too good to throw away!

What can you donate?

The best things to donate are the things which you find are still in good condition but perhaps don’t need or don’t want to use anymore. As a simple rule; if there is something wrong with it, we cannot sell it. The typical things which we receive are:

  • Electronic devices
  • Toys
  • Books
