The Salvation Army Children's Homes
Every child deserves a safe home, a loving community, and the chance to grow into their full potential. Across Malaysia, The Salvation Army operates four residential children’s homes—Kuching Children’s Care Centre, Penang Children’s Home, Ipoh Boys’ Home, and Ipoh Girls’ Home—providing a secure, nurturing environment for children who have experienced abandonment, neglect, abuse, or family crisis.
Through our holistic care model, we go beyond shelter. We integrate emotional wellness with holistic education, equipping children with the academic, life, and emotional skills they need to break free from cycles of poverty and hardship. Our approach ensures each child receives not only protection but also the tools to build a brighter future.

Why It Matters
Across Malaysia, vulnerable children face increasing threats to their safety and development:
- 8,536 children were identified as needing care and protection in 2023—a 56% increase since 2021.
- Sexual offences involving children under 18 have risen by 26.5%, with most cases involving physical assault.
- Many children in care have experienced abandonment, loss of a parent, or family breakdown due to illness, addiction, or incarceration.

Without timely intervention, these children risk falling behind in school, losing hope, and repeating cycles of hardship. Our Holistic Care Model fills critical gaps in psychosocial and academic support, helping each child heal from trauma, succeed in education, and prepare for a stable, independent life.
